July eBirding Challenge - 2026

Powered by
July in Goa is the peak monsoon where birding can be difficult due to the weather, but it is also a time many birds are busy in their nesting activity.

This month's challenge is to upload at least 15 eligible checklists from a single location, be it a hotspot or a personal location
Eligible checklists must report all species seen or heard (marked ‘complete’ on eBird), include counts for all species (no ‘X’ entries), and be at least 15 minutes in duration.
Important:
-
Before heading out, check your local weather forecast keep an eye out for alerts of heavy rain and plan your birding accordingly. Do not venture into areas prone to flooding. You can even upload your lists from the safety of your home or your place of work. Plan your birding accordingly and stay safe.
-
Maintain a respectful distance from nesting birds to avoid disturbing them during this sensitive breeding period.
-
Whenever you observe birds showing signs of breeding behaviour, use the breeding behaviour codes. In the eBird app, tap the species name, then ‘Add breeding code’, and select the appropriate purple circle closest to your observation. (Note: F and H are not breeding codes.).
-
Please upload all your checklists by 10 Aug 2026 so that results can be announced shortly after.
